SURFIN' SAFARI SUMMER – DAY SIXTEEN - August 15, 2021

TWO SIDES OF THE SAME LIFE. Saint Safe Mary de la Maria Segura arrived Saturday morn with creams and oils and smiles for Anna who gladly returned them.

Seabiscuit just got a tune-up, “Diamond Wash" ($32), and detailing with painted tire lettering.

Purchased for the Safari ride were Billy Cobham's “Spectrum” and Stanley Clark's “Journey to Love.”

The surfing was good enough and that is the music I feel like out on the water these days.

Six weeks into Anna's crisis, it is the new normal. It is not that life sucks; we just have to work harder to make it a joy.

This morning was the first time since the June meltdown that I did not sedate her. She appears fine, watching Barcelona v. Real Sociedad on ABC.

We had a visitor from a local hospice come to help us out and I wanted Anna to be, you know, “real" or “clean.”

The rep asked about the types of help I am getting. I mentioned how Anna's sister was a good healer, but is not vaxxed, so I can't have her here. She has chosen to elevate her posture above Anna's well-being.

The hospice rep agreed with my position because, as it turns out, she lost her big sister/best friend to Covid.

So there is that.

The hospice is going to send someone twice a week to bathe Anna. They will do her nails and hair. A nurse will drop by each week to check her vitals. A housekeeper will come twice a week. Someone will come just to spring me for four hours.

They provide a monthly visit from a social worker, all medical supplies, and take on all the stuff associated with medications.

It is all for free, as the illness busted our retirement, investment and mattress money a while back, and because socialistic policies prioritize human need over profit.

Just sayin'.

Somewhere in the past are the interrupted threads of what were my own life and dreams that can, hopefully, be recuperated and renewed thanks to this blessing from Medicare, and by extension, a generous-hearted American people.

After all...I AM FINE, and have been so throughout.

Keep summerin' kids. It ain't over yet
